This is a .com hosting site delivered by Laurence Davis as a tireless worker he has no patience for inaccuracy. That being said the site is pretty glitchy. Some of the articles are informative but all point to the same lasplash web site. This refers to Los Angeles even though there are several other cities documented on the site. They all point to the same website which gets approximately 34K hits per day. As there are about half that many journalists that is not so surprising. The claim of over a million hits is absurd.
That is not the only problem with this review site. It is maintained by “journalist” that copy and paste the information directly from the originating party. The gift guide is posted directly from the manufacturers promotions staff or advertiser. The rest of the products “reviewed” are bartered out with merchandise which is sold on a variety of sites such as eBay currently CoolStuffOffered4Sale . That is understandable except the products have not been opened and are in shrink wrap thus untested, compared or even observed in use.
I would not have had such a problem with the morality nor ethical concerns but the Publisher/Editor is a bit of an eccentric. I would suggest he has never had to work for anything nor anyone in his life and currently expects everything for free. For instance labor. As a manufacturers media relations, public relations or promotions department offering products, services or discounts to Laurence Davis of Splash Magazines Worldwide sucks for journalists. The 4k articles come in from one of the unpaid Journalist? The interns and journalist should not be as disappointed with the “pay” as the “exchangers”.

These dead beats are workin’ for a livin’. This means for a specified number of hours posting, editing and/or writing articles you get the pleasure of living in the house with this true eccentric.
I can only speak to my experience and possibly for another interaction to which I was a witness. I found Lawrence Davis polite upon our first interaction. I expressed an interest in the live in employment situation over the phone and maintained several phone and web interactions prior to taking the leap down to the Hollywood Hills.

There you will find one of the most cluttered 100 year old homes off of Laurel Canyon Rd. The views are beautiful but the smell of the domesticated animals, clutter and filth of the inhabitants are unavoidable. I suppose I should have been more appreciative for the roof over my head. Our agreement started and ended with 25 hours of work per week and even though one day was a 9 am – 9 pm day went something like this. A one way screaming match from a middle aged seemingly mild mannered grandmother type pleaded with me to explain why I had not come in to see him after starting in the wrong office to begin work. I really almost cried I felt very bad for the turmoil and embarrassed he had been so affected by my decision to work in the office. Later without apology he proceeded to baby step me through software I have been familiar with for the last 14 years. I suppose I reacted like an abused child most of that day. My notes state a reoccurring theme “You are not as smart as you think you are!” This is only one of many argumentative and antagonistic blanket statements made by Lawrence Davis.
Anger and verbal attacks likely from his lack of understanding of social norms or stress was the common
denominator through the week. Consistently back stabbing all levels of his personal interactions was a common theme. Overall disappointment with his level of service, product or quality displayed in grunts, swearing or most commonly outbursts I can only label as temper tantrums were the majority of our week long relationship.
I am a kind, understanding and caring person and obviously modest. Normally I can get along in any situation indefinitely. I found this to be one of the most challenging. It was vital to my longevity to bond with the other “workers” all illegal migrants to my knowledge. Canadian, Mexican and British citizens currently interning, laboring and exchanging respectively. Upon our short trips to party or grab groceries we would compare tales and overall get a general sense of the level of expectation to which we were indentured.
On the same day recently we were both asked to leave the residence. I believe the British girl was unexceptionable 25 minutes late. This was a disrespect issue and considered a breach of contract. Later that day I was asked to leave due to my lack of communication, inability to follow precise instructions and general argumentative nature. Yes being to smart for my own good.
Original emails and phone calls were so inviting and exciting. I was to drag a graphically and functionally deficent site into glorious functionality. With substandard living conditions, equipment and restrictions on products we could use it could not quickly come to fruition. Please don’t be fooled or suckered by the pay per click activity going on on this sub par single domain built on broken dreams and fueled by one mans hate. My apologies to the bamboozled interns and journalist that create the content of this online rag of an ezine but there are plenty of oppurtunities out there. Please check the authenticity, accuracy and fundamental moraity of your sources.

Thank you for helping my wife and I dodge a bullet. We had gotten down to the last phone call before visiting Lawrence when I Googled him and came up with dozens of negative views. However, reading your experience with him convinced us.
